Capture any section, right from your browser.

Open the SpecShot side panel on any page, hover to outline a component, a section or the whole page, and click. SpecShot documents what you picked as data your agent can build from.

Free to install. Works with your SpecShot account, and on its own with a local draft.

The live outline on a sample wireframe page, snapped to a pricing section. The capture stays a local draft until you save it.

Three ways to capture.

Pick a mode, hover, and click. Esc cancels. Shift and click picks several parts at once.

Capture modes

Component mode on a sample wireframe page: the outline holds one card.

A capture is a labeled specimen, not a flat picture.

SpecShot breaks what you picked into the parts a builder needs and stores each one as data.

  • The screenshot and a crop of exactly what you picked.
  • Layout and spacing: the container, flex and grid structure and the gaps.
  • Color, type and copy, with the page's CSS variables.
  • Motion and effects: keyframes, transitions and hover states.
  • The section type, such as hero, pricing, FAQ or footer, and a useful title.

Then turn it into a prompt

Write a prompt for any of 17 builder targets, copy it, export it as Markdown or JSON, or open it straight in one of eight AI chat and coding tools.

Or hand it to the project

Save the capture to a project, where your agent reads it as a reference for the pages it designs.

How the agent uses references

A side panel that audits and inspects.Coming in the next update

The next version of the extension is built and waiting on its store release. It adds a Home view of your project, a Tools tab, an Etch view that builds a design into the Etch tab you have open, and the audit below.

Coming in the next update

The SEO and page audit's score card for a sample page, one row per area. Sample scores.

It reads a page only when you ask it to.

Every permission the extension asks for, and what it is for, is listed on the security page.

  • Nothing runs on a page until you open the panel and start a capture.
  • Nothing uploads until you click Save. A local draft lets you preview and copy a prompt without sending anything.
  • Form values and password fields are never collected.
  • Captured pages are stored as data, never run as a website.
  • Usage counts carry no address, title or page content, and you can turn them off.

Questions, answered.

  • Do I need a SpecShot account?
No, to capture and copy a prompt from a local draft. Yes, to save captures to a project and share them with your agent.
  • Does it capture every site?
Most public pages. Some things do not capture fully, such as cross-origin frames, canvas-drawn screens and video. The panel says so plainly when it happens.
  • Is this a website copier?
No. SpecShot documents a section's structure and style as data, as a reference. Your agent builds in your client's own brand and copy.
  • When does the audit arrive?
With the next version of the extension, which is built and waiting on its store release. This page will say when it is out.

Capture your first reference.

Install the extension, open the panel, and click a section.
